Bio

Hans is currently an active SOA volunteer while reviewing career options and completing personal projects. He spent 8 years in Shanghai as the Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer of ICBC-AXA Life, China’s largest foreign joint-venture life insurer, surrounded by two stints in AXA’s Group Risk Management team in Paris including three years as the Group Chief Life Risk Officer. He also served in Paris as Corporate Actuary in AXA’s Planning, Budgets, and Results department. Before moving to Paris he worked for AXA Asia-Pacific in Melbourne and Hong Kong, for Ernst + Young in Boston and New York, as well as Legal & General America, AMEX Life, and MetLife. He has over 35 years of experience across insurance and consulting in North America, Australia, Europe, and Asia. Hans is a member of the SOA Professional Development Committee and has previously served on various other SOA committees, is a former chairman of the CFO Forum's Embedded Value Working Group, was a founding Director of the Life and Longevity Markets Association, and served on the International Accounting Standards Board's Employee Benefits Working Group. He is a frequent speaker at industry events.
