??Jennifer is a Senior Director in Optum’s Provider Actuarial Services practice. She has worked as a health care actuary for over 30 years, during which she’s been involved in reimbursement strategy, Value Based Care (VBC), quality, population health risk stratification, chronic condition recapture and financial planning and analysis.
Jennifer’s VBC experience involves working with risk-bearing provider groups of all sizes and compositions to help them understand and mitigate their risk, identify cost improvement opportunities, develop and modify contracts, provide financial reporting and projections, and manage portfolios of VBC models across multiple populations. In addition to managing agreements for providers, Jennifer has helped multiple payers develop, contract, and implement VBC agreements.
Jennifer’s body of work includes:
• Medicare ACO program evaluation, implementation and financial management for risk bearing entities
• Medicare Advantage contract negotiation for risk bearing providers with payors
• Delegated commercial risk contract optimization
• Stop loss contract evaluation and management to mitigate financial risk
• Financial reporting and budget projections for risk contracts
• Data ingestion, management and standard reporting of all major payors
• Fee for service contract analytics including support of Revenue cycle management and financial revenue recognition
Jennifer’s traditional actuarial experience includes traditional pricing and reserving for all lines of business, network valuation, and individual major medical pricing.
Jennifer is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics. Jennifer is a frequent speaker at actuarial and industry events.
