This role supports the research activities of the SOA, providing actuaries with valuable up-to-the-minute data on catastrophe & climate related issues, enabling them to make more informed and accurate decisions.
Responsibilities & Duties
The SOA Catastrophe & Climate Strategic Research Program is looking for volunteers eager to learn and share how actuaries can engage with topics related to catastrophes, climate and the environment.
Some upcoming projects, as examples, might include:
- Providing oversight for a research project
- Brainstorming future research projects
- Collecting climate resources for practicing actuaries to link to
- Update sources that were previously collected
- Seek out resources from credible sources to share
- Collaborate with others to organize information useful to actuaries
- Write articles for quarterly newsletter (or abstracts of published research)
Time Commitment
- 41-60 hours
- 1-2 calls per month, approximately 2-5 hours per month, depending on how much active involvement on specific projects.
- One-year term which can be renewed.

Member ASA or FSA
