This role supports the engagement and education of the profession at SACNAS - Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science in Portland Oregon. Through educating potential student influencers and students, we hope to spread awareness of the profession and increase pipeline efforts. The Annual SACNAS National Conference is a two-day event focusing on educational, professional, and workforce development.
Responsibilities & Duties
The SOA and the CAS have partnered in a joint effort to promote BeAnActuary.org. As
part of that partnership, a joint committee routinely attends science conferences that
target minority populations to support the diversity efforts of both organizations. The
committee is looking for volunteers to staff an exhibit booth at SACNAS (Advancing
Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science) this year. Exhibitors should be
able to talk to students and professionals about the actuarial path and profession.
-Set up tabling material (Depending on day assigned)
-Interact with attendees, answering questions about profession and encourage student
interest/engagement in the profession.
-Break down of table at the end of the event. (Depending on day assigned)

Time Commitment - Description *
The conference runs for two days, Thursday, October 26th to Friday, October 28th, and
will need booth volunteers on both days. Morning and afternoon shifts are available for
those with limited availability.
