Responsibilities & Duties
The Social Insurance and Public Finance Section is coordinating a session on Paid Family Leave (PFL) at the 2021 SOA Health Meeting to be held June 14-16, 2021 in Baltimore, MD. They are seeking presenters for a session that will provide introductory information regarding government-sponsored PFL programs, such as:
- How do these programs operate (eligibility, benefits, etc.)?
- What are possible variations in program design?
- What are potential impacts and considerations for employers and other stakeholders?
- How might actuaries be impacted by these programs (e.g. effects on disability or health insurance products)
Requirements for this opportunity:
- Working knowledge or direct experience with any state- or international government-sponsored PFL program
Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop presentation materials
- Be capable of handling questions and feedback from audience members
- Possess ability to professionally present information in front of a large audience of your peers
Time Commitment
- 11-20 hours
- Depending on the time needed to develop the materials for the session, the time commitment may be more or less than listed above.
