This opportunity supports the SOA’s outreach and engagement goals by increasing visibility of the actuarial profession among Indigenous STEM students and professionals. Participation in the AISES National Conference allows for direct connection with a diverse talent pipeline, promotes actuarial career pathways, and strengthens relationships with organizations that support underrepresented communities in STEM.
Responsibilities & Duties
Represent the SOA at the AISES National Conference College and Career Fair
Engage with students and professionals to promote actuarial career opportunities
Provide information on SOA programs, exams, and resources
Support networking efforts with organizations such as CAS and participating employers
Participate in actuarial-focused sessions and professional development activities as applicable
Time Commitment - Description *
Participation in a 3-day in-person conference (October 15–17, 2026), including attendance at the College and Career Fair, networking events, and relevant sessions. Limited preparation time may be required in advance.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills preferred. Familiarity with the SOA’s education system, actuarial career pathways, and outreach initiatives is helpful but not required. Prior experience in student engagement, recruiting, or professional outreach is beneficial.
Oregon Convention Center, Northeast Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, Portland, OR, USA
Optional – travel to Portland, Oregon for the 3-day conference (October 15–17, 2026). Local volunteers or those within the surrounding area are preferred, as SOA will not sponsor travel for this opportunity.
