This role supports the research activities of the SOA Research Institute, providing actuaries with valuable up-to-the-minute data on General Insurance related issues, enabling them to make more informed and accurate decisions.

Responsibilities & Duties *

The Project Oversight Group (“POG”) will oversee the Project and work closely with the research team to review the acceptability of Project deliverables. The POG will also provide feedback or suggestions as appropriate regarding the progressing research.

This project looks to enhance actuaries’ understanding of the cyber risks associated with the developing digital asset ecosystem, as well as their measurement methods in the context of digital asset insurance and fundamental understanding of inherent cyber risks to advance insurance expertise of digital asset insurance.

The end-product will provide readers with:
i) A comprehensible education on the current developments of digital asset ecosystems and various shades of cyber risks involved;
ii) A scientifically rigorous framework for quantifying cyber risks;
iii) Practical applications including pricing, risk capital evaluation, and economic analysis for acknowledging the importance of digital asset insurance in strengthening the cyber-resilience of digital asset ecosystems.

The analysis will not only consider the cyber risks associated with individual protocols, but also examine the systemic risks present in a digital asset insurance portfolio/
system, the blockchain technology underlying the digital asset ecosystem and its associated limitations and risks, and look to model different types of cyber risks inherent in a complex digital asset insurance portfolio.

Time Commitment - Description *

Most time will be spent reviewing project deliverables by e-mail. It is anticipated there will be 3-4 Conference Calls to get group feedback from the POG for the research team.
