How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession? *

This role supports the education and credential activities of the SOA, to ensure the integrity of the SOA's credentials in the General Insurance track.

Responsibilities & Duties *

The SOA is looking for actuaries with experience in general insurance (GI) or related areas to write questions for any of the following GI exams:
• Introduction to Ratemaking and Reserving Exam
• Financial and Regulatory Environment Exam
• Advanced Topics in General Insurance Exam

Responsibilities and duties include:
• Participate in drafting and reviewing questions for examinations.
• Participate in grading exams.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the SOA
Education Confidentiality Agreement.

Time Commitment - Hours *

21 to 40 hours

Time Commitment - Description *

Approximately 20 hours per year plus additional travel time to meetings.

Four-year term, renewable one time.

Experience Required - Designation *

Member ASA or FSA

Experience Required - Description

Must be FSA.

Must have expertise in at least part of the General Insurance exam syllabus.

Opportunity Location *

Non-Country Specific

Travel Required *

Attend approximately two to four on-site meetings per year. This only applies to volunteers located in North America. No volunteers outside of North America will attend these meetings.

SOA Training Required *

Must attend in-person or online Item Writer Training.
