The AIT Steering Committee (AITSC) guides the Research Institute’s Actuarial Innovation and Technology Strategic Program for decision-making and implementation of projects in support of the goals of the SOA, its members and stakeholders.
Responsibilities & Duties
The AITSC is primarily responsible for charting and developing an overall structure for the projects supporting the Program. The Program Steering Committee member will be involved in the initiation of project ideas and will delegate the management and oversight of individual projects to groups, such as Project Oversight Groups (POGs). Duties include overseeing a dedicated budget, setting a research agenda for the Program, prioritizing and overseeing idea selection, to name a few.
Time Commitment - Description *
Time commitment includes monthly 1-hour calls and potentially volunteering for Committee subgroups and Project Oversight Groups. There will be reading/reviewing of materials to prepare for the calls.
Experience Required - Designation
Experience Required - Description
Experience and subject matter expertise consistent with a research focus is preferred. It is beneficial, although not required, that AITSC members have previous experience with various types of SOA research. Being a technology-focused individual would definitely be an asset.
Travel Required
While travel is not required, there may be one all day in-person meeting (can be done by Zoom) each year.
