How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?
The role supports the activities of the Mortality & Longevity Strategic Research Program Steering Committee (MLPSC) and the Aging & Retirement Strategic Research Program Steering Committee (ARPSC). Volunteers on the Committee on Living to 100 Research Symposia help to ensure a quality SOA research product on longevity that will educate and inform actuaries and others and serve as a strong foundation for a research symposium.
Responsibilities & Duties
The Committee on Living to 100 Research Symposia members will:
- develop content for the 2023 Living to 100 Symposium including initiating research to be presented at the Symposium, creating sessions and recruiting speakers
- provide guidance in the form of insights, experience, expertise and knowledge
- review research deliverables and provide feedback to the researcher
- advise on appropriate forms of dissemination of results
- participate in the publicity program as needed including serving as a spokesperson for the Living to 100 event and suggesting ideas to increase awareness of the event
Time Commitment
- 61 to 80 hours
- Research project normally lasts 2 years; 3 hours per month for a 24-month period including 1-hour conference calls.
