How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?
The Joint CAS/SOA Committee on Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity is made up of individuals that are interested in creating and maintaining a focus on diversity efforts towards increasing diversity within CAS and SOA membership. Members would work to develop a diverse pipeline of future leaders, identify DEI professional development opportunities and promote the actuarial profession among underrepresented students and educators.
 
Responsibilities & Duties
• Identify strategic approaches to increasing equity, inclusion, and diversity in the actuarial profession and candidate pipeline and implement them through the Be An Actuary working groups
• Develop short- and long-term goals with metrics for success within each working group objective;
• Identify and work with leading D&I subject matter experts including but not limited to SOA and CAS members, candidates, and employers, to advise on D&I strategy;
• Work with identify-based actuarial partner organizations & affinity groups, Actuarial Foundation, and Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS), on diversity and inclusion projects; 
• Advise on best practices for each sponsoring organization to monitor candidate, member, and leadership demographics related to diversity;
 • Provide oversight and reporting of the actuarial profession’s inclusion and diversity activities to members, candidates, and the Boards of each sponsoring organization;
• Track and report on member demographics related to diversity to members, candidates, and the Boards of each sponsoring organization;
• Implement programs and campaigns through working groups and staff.
 
Time Commitment - Description *
21-40 hours; Monthly committee meetings and subgroup calls to work on projects.
