This role benefits the profession by sharing the latest technical and non-technical knowledge and skills with actuarial and industry practitioners to enhance their career and professional development.

Responsibilities & Duties

The SOA is coordinating several professional development events for Asia audiences in 2021.  We are seeking seasoned and engaging presenters to deliver technical or business skills topics in online or in-person sessions in our hybrid seminars/symposium, webcasts or in-person seminars.  All presentations will be in English. We welcome a wide range of topics which are popular and meet the educational needs of actuaries and practitioners in Asia.  Some key areas of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Risk & Capital Management
  • IFRS17
  • Data Analysis & Innovation
  • Low interest rate environment
  • Product design and development
  • Business and soft skills

Preferred attributes for this role include

  • Expert with practical Asia market working knowledge and/or direct experience in the selected topics
  • Engaging presenter with preference for those who can interact with audiences effectively and professionally in in-person and virtual environment
  • Experienced and confident to present in virtual or in-person event format

Presentation Required

  • Presenters agreed to present at the SOA events should agree all presentations will be shared with program attendees for their educational reference.
  • Presenters agreed to present at the SOA events should agree with the SOA standard policies on antitrust, publishing/copyright and presentation standards as listed in: https://www.soa.org/programs/presenters/policies/
  • Presenters agreed to present at the SOA events should agree their session will be recorded, and for SOA to make it available to program attendees and other professionals as part of SOA professional development effort.

Time Commitment

5-7 hours

Experience Required

  • Open to SOA Members and Non-Members
  • Seasoned speaker with ideally 10+ years working experience
  • Presentation experience in individual presentation, panel discussion and/or workshop in virtual and/or in-person format

Opportunity Location

  • Virtual or
  • In-person in Asia

Travel Required

Presenters will take care of their travel and lodging expense if they accept to participate at the in-person events.

SOA Training Required

Participation in a virtual call training session (approximately one-hour maximum) for virtual presentation session.
