Description
The SOA is looking for actuaries with experience in Group & Health or related areas to write high-quality exam questions and corresponding grading outlines for Group & Health Specialty Exams
Responsibilities & Duties
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the SOA Education Confidentiality Agreement
- Draft and revise, as needed, one high-quality question over a 4-month period
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experienced Question Writer may be recruited to be an Expert Question Writer who reviews and revises drafted exam questions and grading outlines
- Expert Question Writers may be asked by their Chairperson to participate in some Question Review meetings
Time Commitment
- Approximately 20 hours at home over a 4-month period starting from around December through March to write one high-quality question, as the Specialty syllabus is updated annually around the beginning of December
- Possibly travel time to one exam question writing meeting per year
Experience Required
- Must be FSA
- Must have expertise in at least part of the Group and Health exam syllabus
- Individuals pursuing their ERM designation are ineligible to volunteer for G & H Exam activities
