How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?
This role supports the education and credentialing activities of the SOA, in particular the grading for the Predictive Analytics exams, to ensure the integrity of the SOA’s credentials.
Responsibilities & Duties
The SOA is looking for volunteers to support Exam PA (Predictive Analytics), a 3.5-hour exam requiring analysis of a data set in the context of a business problem and responses to questions. Volunteers need be familiar with the assigned syllabus and exam materials and commit to grading exams on the scheduled timeline. The PA exam is offered twice each year. The responsibilities and duties include:
• Reading and understanding assigned syllabus material 
• Attending grader training (virtual), and central grading (in person, if asked and available) 
• Grading assigned exam questions
• Working reliably and on schedule
• Cooperating with grading committee leadership
• Maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the SOA Education Confidentiality Agreement
Time Commitment/Hours
21-40 hours
Time Commitment - Description *
• 20-30 hours per exam administration Note: Spring 2024 PA Exam grading is estimated to require 20-30 hours over approximately three weeks. It will take place from late April to mid-May. Participation (either remotely or in person) in Central Grading on May 17 -18 is required.

• Proficiency in reading and understanding French • Experience translating French documents

SOA Training Required
If new to exam grading, the volunteer will go through the on-line training course provided by the SOA.
