How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?
This role supports the research activities of the SOA Research Institute, providing actuaries with valuable up-to-the-minute data on climate risk-related issues, enabling them to make more informed and accurate decisions.
Responsibilities & Duties
Some of the tasks of the committee include:
Create the quarterly newsletter, highlighting Program research as well as external research and serving as a forum for Program committee members to author topics of interest.
Collaborate with the SOA Marketing Department to develop the Program communication strategy.
Make our audience aware of Program published research and research opportunities. Consider the best ways of communicating with our audience.
Review and maintain the Catastrophe and Climate | SOA webpage, to ensure it continues to be easy for visitors to find information, and for the committee to keep the resources up to date
Review scorecards and other analytics, to determine where additional promotion is needed
Recruit and assign spokespersons for individual projects and overall Program.
Time Commitment/Hours
11-20 hours
Time Commitment - Description *
Likely 1-2 hours per month. One year term, which can be renewed. A combination of committee calls and work of the committee to be determined.
