Articles in the Emerging Topics Community Newsletter are an important way to provide relevant information to Community members.
Responsibilities & Duties

Author an article for the SOA Emerging Topics Community Newsletter. We encourage submissions from academics,  practitioners, technology gurus and emerging professionals alike. Your insights, experiences and perspectives can help inform, inspire and support the broader actuarial community.

The Emerging Topics Community was formed in 2020 by uniting the former Modeling, Predictive Analytics and Futurism, and Technology Sections. We welcome a broad range of article topics, particularly those related to  the latest trends, ideas, technology and practices shaping the future of the actuarial profession.

Potential authors will need to meet the requirements outlined in Author Guidelines: Community Newsletters including: 
•    Article length of 500 – 2,500 words 
•    Author bio
•    Article Description of 20 words or less
•    Complete the SOA Copyright License Agreement to confirm that the SOA has the right to publish the article. Author retains ownership/copyright rights. 
•    Complete the SOA Metadata form to provide information including key words and topics that optimize search engine results and increase readership. 
•    Secure permission for any material (extended text, charts, tables) taken directly or slightly adapted from an outside source.
•    Submission deadlines for 2026: June 15  for August issue; August 10 for October issue; and October 12 for December issue.
