Responsibilities & Duties
The primary function of a subgroup steering committee member is to identify speakers and develop or solicit topics for content related to the subgroup’s topic. Steering committee members should be aware of current topics of interest and recent research that may be of interest to the broader community. Health Analytics: The SOA is searching for 2-3 committee members for the Health Analytics subgroup. Topics of interest for this subgroup include: - Modeling techniques including machine learning, predictive analytics, and causal inference to predict and understand health care utilization and costs; - Integration and analysis of diverse data sources, such as claims, clinical data, risk scores, and social determinants of health; - Emerging technologies and ethical considerations, including algorithmic fairness, model governance, and bias in analytics; - Review and discussion of recent published research relevant to health actuaries.
