This role supports the education and credentialing activities of the SOA, continually developing pertinent content, both foundational and advanced, to ensure the integrity of the SOA’s credentials.
Responsibilities & Duties
The SOA is looking for volunteers to support the CFEFD Exam. Volunteers will read the syllabus material, write questions and grade exams that are offered twice each year.
The responsibilities and duties will include:
- Reading and understanding the assigned syllabus material
- Developing a question and a corresponding grading rubric based on the exam syllabus and learning objectives
- Managing their question through the SOA's approval process
- Grading of exam(s), as required
- Maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the SOA Education Confidentiality Agreement
Time Commitment
Volunteers are expected to read 100-200 pages of syllabus material in January-March, develop one exam quality question and associated grading rubric by the end of March, and be available to revise & update the question until early June.
Grading typically involves 20-30 hours to initially grade exam questions and attendance at a 2.5 day Central Grading session to finalize the grading
Experience Required
- Must be an FSA
- Successful completion of the CFEFD exam is helpful but not required.
Opportunity Location
Travel Required
Graders should be prepared to attend the off-site Central Grading meeting.
SOA Training Required
If new to exam development, it is recommended that the volunteer to go through the on-line training course
