This role supports the research activities of the SOA, providing actuaries with valuable up-to-the-minute information on health-related issues, enabling them to make more informed and accurate decisions. In particular, this research project provides an opportunity to learn about how social determinants of health may be used as a rating, risk adjustment or claims cost management tool by health actuaries.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

Project Oversight Groups (POGs) provide guidance and input to researchers, oversee the progress of the work, and ensure it is in line with the proposal. POG members are expected to review draft materials prior to conference calls and provide input during the calls. It is expected that there will be one-hour conference calls approximately monthly for the duration of the project. 

Time Commitment

  • 11 to 20 hours
  • Most time will be spent reviewing materials and participating on conference calls. 

Experience Required

  • Member, Non-Member or Candidate
  • Individuals with some background in Risk Adjustment or Social Determinants of health is preferred. 

Opportunity Location

Non-Country Specific- though mostly relevant to US
