Description:

How does this role benefit the broader actuarial profession?
This role supports the SOA  preliminary examination system, helping educate and prepare the next generation of actuaries who will be working in the actuarial field at some point in the near future.
What professional benefits will a volunteer gain from this role?
You will be helping the next generation of students gain the knowledge they need to ultimately become an actuary.  Plus you will be working with many great people on the committee who are dedicated to giving back to the actuarial profession.
Responsibilities & Duties

The Fundamentals of Actuarial Mathematics (FAM) exam is looking for volunteers to join their committee.

In particular, we are looking for volunteers who have an interest in long-term actuarial math.  That is, we need new volunteers who are interested in introductory LIFE CONTINGENCIES (but we would never turn down people who are more interested in the short-term actuarial math -- loss models material).

This is a way to give back to the actuarial profession and is very rewarding !  Plus it is a great group of people who are currently the volunteers working on the FAM committee.

Duties include:

1.  Writing  multiple choice questions

2. Reviewing questions that will be discussed at a pre-review meeting

3. Attend two pre-review meetings per year.  These meetings are held over two days (usually ends up being one and a half days)
