This role supports the education and credential activities of the SOA, continually developing pertinent content, both foundational and advanced, to ensure the integrity of the SOA’s credentials.
Description
The SOA is looking for actuaries with experience in Group & Health or related areas to sort (i.e., rank a sample of 20 candidates’ exam paper into four categories) for the Group & Health Specialty exam.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the SOA Education Confidentiality Agreement
- Sorters are asked to review the candidate’s answers for three to four exam questions for 20 candidates selected by the SOA. So, in total, the Sorter will be ranking 60 to 80 candidate papers.
- Sorter assesses the quality of the candidate’s answers into four categories: Definite Pass, Marginal Pass, Marginal Fail, or Definite Fail
- Work is done at home. No travel.
- Sorters receive their sorting packages from the SOA on Friday, May 11th
- Sorters are asked to submit their rankings to the SOA by Thursday, May 31st
Time Commitment
- 4 to 6 hours if assigned 2 questions
- 6 to 9 hours if assigned 3 questions
- 8 to 12 hours if assigned 4 questions
Experience Required
- Must be FSA designation
- Must have expertise in at least part of the Group and Health exam syllabus
- Individuals pursuing their ERM designation are ineligible to volunteer for G & H Exam activities
