How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?
As part of the Joint Committee for Inclusion, Equity and Diversity, the Career Encouragement work group is made up of individuals that are interested in raising awareness about diversity and inclusion issues and share best practices with the CAS and SOA memberships. Role would also enable our members to influence diversity and create inclusive environments within their respective workplaces.
Responsibilities & Duties
Develop continuing education sessions on diversity and inclusion issues for sponsoring organizations meetings. Wherever possible, develop content that can be used for both organizations, via joint webinars or at individual organizations’ meetings and conferences.
Time Commitment
- 21-40 hours
- Work Group has 1 monthly 1-hour call and periodic smaller group calls as needed.
Experience Required
- Member ASA or FSA
- Awareness of industry trends and issues around diversity and inclusion
Interest in increasing awareness of the actuarial profession and fostering a diverse profession
Ability/willingness to make the time commitment to actively participate
