This role supports the research activities of the SOA Research Institute, providing actuaries with valuable up-to-the-minute data on climate related issues, enabling them to make more informed and accurate decisions.
 
Responsibilities & Duties
The Project Oversight Group (“POG”) will oversee the Project and work closely with the research team to review the acceptability of Project deliverables. The POG will also provide feedback or suggestions as appropriate regarding the progressing research. The objective of this research is to produce a roadmap for actuaries and underwriters to help determine how much credit should be given to various levels of resilience, which includes 1) a typology describing the range of current resilience and adaptation initiatives used globally and 2) a survey of actuarial methods to evaluate a potential initiative’s direct costs, expected savings, and predicted outcomes.
Time Commitment/Hours
11-20 hours
 
Time Commitment - Description 
Most time will be spent reviewing project deliverables by e-mail. It is anticipated there will be 4-5 Conference Calls to get group feedback from the POG for the research team.

Actuary practicing in practice area which seeks to provide for climate-related risks preferred.
