How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?
This role contributes to the SOA by ensuring strong representation with the IAA where global standards and professionalism are discussed. This delegate will participate in projects in the areas  of professionalism and standards that guide the profession. By participating, the delegate helps the committee to uphold and advance high standards of actuarial practice, supports the exchange of international best practices, and provides the SOA with important information on the topic. This active involvement reinforces SOA’s strategic relationship with the IAA while having a voice in the topic.
Responsibilities & Duties
This volunteer role is to represent the SOA in the IAA committee. The role of the Professionalism Committee is:
Time Commitment/Hours
25 hours
Time Commitment - Description *
Time commitment on average is 20-30 hours per year. There will be 1-hour virtual meetings and potentially 1 in-person during one of the IAA Council & Committee Meetings.
Experience Required - Designation
Member ASA or FSA
Experience Required - Description
The Delegate must be an SOA member (ASA/FSA) with extensive knowledge of SOA’s governance and structure. They will have a strong professional background and expertise to support the professionalism of actuaries internationally.
