This role supports the research activities of the SOA Research Institute, providing actuaries with valuable up-to-the-minute data on General Insurance related issues, enabling them to make more informed and accurate decisions.
Responsibilities & Duties
The Society of Actuaries Research Institute (SOA) General Insurance Research Committee (GIRC) is seeking volunteers for a Project Oversight Group (“POG”) which will oversee the research project and work closely with the research team and review the acceptability of Project deliverables. The POG will also determine, based on the nature of the Project, the frequency with which it would like to receive progress reports, and will provide feedback or suggestions as appropriate regarding the progressing research.
The project looks to gather documents, build a web-based user interface, introduce Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning for automation, perform analysis on contents, demonstrate how to use, update and maintain the database, deliver/utilize an open source GIT repository and deliver a report that introduces the methodology of the NLP powered search tool and provides instructions and an example of its use.
Time Commitment
11-20 hours
Primarily reviewing project deliverables, with 3-4 conference calls expected.
