Description
The SOA is looking for new FSAs with interest in quantitative financial and investment areas to write questions for QFI-QF Exam committee
Responsibilities & Duties
- Draft and revise high-quality 2 to 3 QFI-QF exam questions including their rubrics on the assigned materials once a year
- Grade assigned question(s) of QFI-QF exam papers twice a year
Responsibilities and duties include:
- Participate in drafting and reviewing questions for QFI-QF exams
- Grade assigned question(s) of QFI-QF exam papers and develop model solution(s) to the exam question(s) graded
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the SOA Education Confidentiality Agreement
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Time Commitment
- 60 hours a year
- 20 hours of question development and 20 hours of drafted question reviewing
- 20 hours of exam grading and model solution(s) development
Experience Required
- Must be FSA
- Familiar with topic(s) of 2019 QFI-QF syllabus

Travel Required
- Attend Question Writing Session meeting (QWS) once a year (preferred but not required). This only applies to volunteers located in North America. No volunteers outside of North America will attend this meeting. Attending QWS is by invitation only.
- Attend Central Grading (CG) meetings twice a year (preferred but not required). Attending CG is by invitation only.
SOA Training Required
Strongly recommend attending a one-time item writer training (IWT) meeting for the first time question writers. Attendees need to prepare complete draft(s) prior to the meeting and apply what is learned from the training to improve the draft(s) during the meeting.
