This role supports the education and credential activities of the SOA, grading for the Individual Life and Annuities (ILA) FSA track exams.
Responsibilities and duties:
The SOA is looking for actuaries with experience in Individual Life and Annuity or related areas to sort and/or grade exam papers for:
- Life Product Management Exam
- Life Financial Management Exam
- Life ALM and Modeling Exam or ERM Exam
* Volunteer candidates must not have family members / significant others currently taking ILA exams
Time Commitment
- Sorters generally sort 3-4 exam questions; Sorters generally take about 10 hours to sort their questions.
- Most graders will grade one question; those grading the Canadian version of LFM will likely grade two. Graders generally take about 10 to 20 hours to grade their question.
- 21-40 hours per year (if participating in both Spring and Fall sessions).
Experience Required
- Must be FSA
- Experience with at least part of the ILA exam syllabus preferred

SOA Training Required
Inexperienced graders will be mentored by experienced graders on how to grade. There is a webinar offered by the SOA a few weeks before the grading process begins for less-experienced graders.
