IMMEDIATE OPPORTUNITY! The SOA Education department needs exam supervisors in Singapore for the April 27, 2017 and April 28, 2017 exam sittings. Applicants will only be expected to supervise on one of these two days.
The supervisor’s primary responsibilities are to safeguard the confidentiality of the exam materials, to conduct the examinations correctly, to protect the candidates from disturbance and to return the examination materials promptly. Specific responsibilities include:
- Reviewing the Instructions to Supervisor booklet before the exam day
- Receiving delivery of exam materials
- Confirming receipt of delivery of exam materials
- Storing the exam materials in a secure location until date of exam
- Proctoring the exam - If a supervisor is unable to proctor the exam, it is their responsibility to find a qualified replacement.
- Returning the materials to the proper location
Time Commitment5-10 hours
- Time of commitment depends on the number of exams a person is supervising. As an example if an exam is scheduled to run from 8 am – 11 am, the supervisor should arrive no later than 7:30 am and plan to stay until 11:30 am.
Experience Required
- The exam Supervisor must meet one of the following requirements:
- A member of the Society of Actuaries, or
- A member of the Casualty Actuarial Society, or
- A member of the Institute of Actuaries (England), or
- A member of the Faculty of Actuaries (Scotland), or
- A tenured academic (College professor) or a qualified testing professional
- At a minimum, the person should be sufficiently advanced in the examination system to have demonstrated a firm commitment to the actuarial profession. No individuals may supervise an exam for which they do not have credit.
