How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?
Our industry is changing, and the SOA has teamed up with start-up incubator Plug & Play to keep actuaries on the front line of innovation. The SOA will be joining the ranks of Plug & Play's advisor companies, and will host office hours with start-ups twice a month. An office hour session with a startup is a chance for founders and leadership of new insuretech companies to seek the advice of SOA members as they build their companies.
Responsibilities & Duties
We're looking for SOA members to serve as advisors and hold these office hours time slots. Advisors should be able to provide feedback on a variety of topics within the actuarial field, as well as offer deep expertise and domain knowledge. If you can provide great advice to a startup in the insurance field, if you can commit to hosting office hours at least once quarterly, and if you'd like to see first-hand the innovation in our industry, volunteer to join the Office Hour Panel.
