This role supports the pre-qualification education activities of the SOA, developing pertinent content and aligning our materials to best practices in learning, ensuring the integrity of the SOA’s credentials and their relevance to SOA’s stakeholders.
Responsibilities & Duties
Participates in development, review and revision of content for assigned Fundamentals of Actuarial Practice (FAP) course module(s)
- Develops, reviews and revises module content as assigned by Module Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson, helping guide the education of actuarial candidates while gaining exposure to best practices in learning
- Recommends changes to keep the module up-to-date (changes/developments in actuarial practice, external forces, readings/resource materials)
- Liaise and interface with:
- FAP Module Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson
- Other Module Committee Members
- Section Education Liaisons (as needed)
- SOA Staff
Time Commitment
- Approximately 10 hours per month (including bi-weekly standing calls), plus in-person meeting attendance described below
- Approximately 3-4 face-to-face meetings per year:
- One, 2-day Education Central Review (January or July)
- 2-3 Additional planning and working group meetings
- Bi-weekly e-Learning planning and working group conference calls
- 2 years, with renewal/extension available
Experience Required
- Must be FSA member in good standing with the SOA
- General understanding of SOA Education System
- Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
- Individual should possess initiative, creativity, and strong communication and organizational skills
- Compliant with SOA Conflict of Interest policy and Confidentiality Agreement
