How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?
This role supports the research activities of the SOA Research Institute, providing actuaries with valuable up-to-the-minute data on climate risk related issues, enabling them to make more informed and accurate decisions.
Research Connection Committee:
• Coordinate highlighting published research with major SOA meeting sessions and webcasts, as well as seek opportunities to highlight Program research with other actuarial organizations
• Support “education” to audience promoting how to use the published research
• Establish liaisons to promote and disseminate Cat & Climate research
• Connect with actuaries with an interest in Catastrophe and Climate-risk
• Understand what actuaries in other organizations and groups are looking for in SOA Research
• Collaborate with SOA Marketing Department as needed to supply insight into planned research releases, and to help find spokespersons for published research projects as needed for media outreach
