How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?           

oSTEM (Out in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) will be hosting their annual conference in Detroit on November 15 and 16. As a joint supporter of the event with the CAS, the SOA will be hosting an informational table during the afternoon career fair. 

Responsibilities & Duties

Volunteers will be asked to talk one-on-one with professionals and students in an exhibit hall environment. Questions will range from what an actuary does in a day-to-day position, to how welcoming the industry is to LGBTQ students. Materials and handouts will be provided to give to interested students. 

Time Commitment

  • 4 or fewer hours
  • 1-4 PM on Friday, November 15th and 3:30-6PM on Saturday, November 16th
