This role supports the pre-qualification education activities of the SOA, developing pertinent content and aligning our materials to best practices in learning, ensuring the integrity of the SOA’s credentials and their relevance to SOA’s stakeholders. 

Responsibilities & Duties

Participates in development, review and revision of content for the eLearning Fundamentals of Actuarial Practice (FAP) module(s) Updates will help guide the future of the actuarial profession.

  • Develops, reviews, and revises module content focused on the selection of assumptions and monitoring results.  
  • Recommends changes to keep the module up-to-date (changes/developments in actuarial practice, external forces, readings/resource materials)
  • Work with staff to develop new enhancements and features
  • Liaise and interface with:
    • FAP Module Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson
    • Other Module Committee Members
    • SOA Staff 

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 15 hours per month (including bi-weekly standing calls
  • Approximately 2-3 face-to-face planning and working group meetings:
  • Bi-weekly e-Learning planning and working group conference calls
  • Approximately 6-8 month project 

Experience Required

  • Must be FSA member in good standing with the SOA
  • General understanding of SOA Education System
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
  • Individual should possess initiative, creativity, and strong communication and organizational skills
  • Compliant with SOA Conflict of Interest policy and Confidentiality Agreement 

Opportunity Location

U.S. and Canada 

Travel Required

2-3 two‐day module committee meetings for planning, course development and review.
