This role supports the education and credentialing activities of the SOA, specifically by providing content to help candidates understand how to apply the material they are studying in real world situations.
Responsibilities & Duties
The SOA is seeking actuaries to update content in the Case Studies used for the ERM Extensions exam and for the CFE Fellowship Track. Volunteers will be assigned to either the ERM Case Study team or the CFE Case Study team, depending on preference and background.
The responsibilities and duties will include:
- Become familiar with curriculum material that supports the ERM Extension or the CFE examinations, as assigned
- Revise existing case study content and draft new content to support syllabus reading sources for the ERM and CFE examinations
- Maintain and enhance financial statement models used in the ERM and CFE case studies
- Participate in Case Study team conference calls and meetings during the case study development period
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the SOA Education Confidentiality Agreement
Time Commitment
- 21 to 40 hours of independent work
- In-person meeting once per year
- Case study team teleconferences (estimated at 5 - 8 per year)
Experience Required
- Must be FSA member in good standing with the SOA
- ERM job responsibilities and/or familiarity with ERM concepts is helpful
- Expertise in any FSA track specialty is acceptable
- Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
- Should possess strong written and oral communication skills
