This role supports the research activities of the SOA, providing actuaries with an overview of climate related issues, enabling them to make more informed and accurate decisions.
The Climate and Environmental Sustainability Research Committee (CESRC) Sub-Committee of the SOA Catastrophe & Climate Strategic Research Program wishes to produce a series of research papers introducing actuaries to various topics related to environmental risks. Papers should provide an overview of existing research into the selected topics, with a focus on the relevance of the topic to actuarial practice.
Responsibilities & Duties
The Project Oversight Group (POG) will oversee the Project and
- work closely with the paper authors
- review the acceptability of Project deliverables in accordance with the terms of the individual project Agreements
- determine with the authors, based on the nature of the Project, the frequency with which it would like the authors to submit progress reports
- provide feedback or suggestions as appropriate regarding the progressing research
Time Commitment
- 11 to 20 hours
- Most time would consist of review of the Draft Report and the Final Report for each paper in the series. The scope of the project is for oversight of six papers produced approximately one per month.
- May include 1-2 conference calls to discuss progress on the project and address questions which the POG may have.
