Attendance at the conference will help promote the actuarial profession and the SOA to high school and college counselors and inform them of a new free affiliate membership program for them and their students to join.
Responsibilities & Duties
The National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) will be hosting its annual conference in Seattle Washington at the Washington State Convention Center. The SOA is seeking local volunteers to talk one-on-one with high school and college counselors in an exhibit hall environment. Volunteers should have a familiarity with the ASA pathway and be able to answer high level questions about the benefits of becoming an actuary over other stem careers like data science. Exhibit Booth hours are:
Sept. 23: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:30-8:00 p.m.
Sept. 24: 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Sept. 25: 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
Time Commitment
- 4 to 8 hour shifts in the Exhibit Booth
Experience Required
- Member ASA or FSA
- Familiarity with the ASA pathway
- Ability to answer high level questions about the benefits of becoming an actuary
