How does this role benefit the work of the organization and the profession?

The role supports the research activities of the Reinsurance Section and the actuarial profession. The objective is to assess how mortality improvement varies by the key elements and identify other possible components. The conclusions reached from this study will assist direct insurers and reinsurers in setting their mortality improvement assumption.

Responsibilities & Duties

Provide guidance in the form of insights, experience, expertise and knowledge for the study. Project Oversight Group will finalize project scope and set expectations in collaboration with researcher. Review draft material and provide feedback to researcher and advise on appropriate forms of dissemination of the results.

Time Commitment

  • 21 to 40 hours
  • Research project normally lasts 6-9 months. Time commitment and number of hours 3- hours per month for a six to nine-month period including 1-hour conference calls.
