Pat has over thirty years of experience as a health actuary and financial executive, including leadership roles in managed health care, group life and health insurance, health benefit consulting and long-term care insurance. He is currently Director of LTC Pricing at MedAmerica Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Excellus Health Plan in Rochester, NY. Prior to this position, Pat served as the valuation actuary for Excellus, and in an enterprise financial forecasting and executive reporting role for the health plan and its subsidiaries. Pat earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from MIT and began his actuarial career as a summer intern while in college. He is also a graduate of the AHIP Executive Leadership Program. As an active SOA volunteer, Pat served for thirteen years on the SOA Examination Committee, culminating as General Officer for the Group and Health Benefits and Managed Care FSA track exams. He is a former Chair of the SOA Health Section, and has coordinated, moderated and presented at SOA Health and Annual Meeting sessions and at Health Section Seminars. He has served on several Project Oversight Groups for SOA research projects. Currently he represents the Health and Long Term Care Sections on the SOA Professional Development Committee, and recently completed a year as Chair of the PDC.
